When I was 18 years old I went to Paris to work as an au pair. I soon realized that my school French did not get me very far, which, I thought, was a pity for all those years of studying the language. Practice makes perfect, however, and after just one month I had become fluent in French. Having had this experience I decided on my return to Holland to study 'Applied Linguistics' at Groningen University. This study allowed me to study closely the theories behind learning a language and the developing methods for teaching languages.
After graduating, I have had various roles in language teaching, and have taught a variety of people. While teaching I noticed that there is nothing more interesting and useful than giving students the possibility of learning in practice. DnA Languages is a dream come true for me: together with shaping the training sessions in a way that allows both student and trainer to enjoy the language experience. |
